Aqualyx injections are used to melt away stubborn pockets of fat on the body and is less invasive than liposuction, with no anesthesia required. Aqualyx is made from a solution containing Deoxycholic acid which is used in the body in the emulsification (break down) of fats for the absorption in the intestine.
It dissolves the membranes of fat cells in the treated area causing them to become unstable. They then break open releasing the fatty acids contained inside,
the body’s immune system then kicks in to remove them via the liver. Aqualyx is best suited to those who are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and are close to your ideal body weight, but have stubborn areas of fat . The common areas treated are under the chin, saddle bags or love handles, inner thighs, back of thighs (cellulite), cankles, stomach and abdomen (defining abs). The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies based on the size of the area and the number of fatty deposits.
For a small area typically 1-3 sessions are required. For a larger area (like the stomach) 2-8 sessions are required. Aqualyx is a safe, effective fat dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. It produces long lasting results, which means you can banish those annoyingly wobbly bits. Aqualyx can be used to treat small, exercise resistant, pockets of fat around the chin, chest, abdomen, thighs, knees and ankles. It is very effective
effective for body contouring
Aqualyx is an aqueous compound solution, with slow-release sugar that reduces the biological half-life of the solution, minimising the side effects.
The ingredients are a polymer from 3, 6-Anhydro-L-Galactose and D-Galactose (0.5%), buffer systems (4.2%), sodium salt of (3α, 5α, 12α) – 3, 12-dihydroxy-5-cholan-24-acid (7.5%), water for injection purposes (87%) and sodium chloride (0.8%).
Deoxycholic acid is already present in the human body and has been used in many fields of human medicine
it is used in the emulsification of fats for the absorption in the intestine. Aqualyx dissolves the fat cell membranes in the treated area so the fat cells become weak and break open these are then naturally expelled from the body
Aqualyx is not recommend for clients suffering from acute or chronicle skin diseases in the affected areas. Nor it is advisable for those with significant weight or women who are pregnant or breast feeding. Any clients with diabetes (type2), liver or kidney disease.
Our initial consultation will clarify any further concerns you may have with the treatment. This treatment is designed for the ages of between 18 and 60 years old
Treatments are personalised to the client. On average it would be between 2 and 8 treatments, however more commonly at least 4 treatments are needed. A treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and indication being treated.
Treatment can take between 30 and 60 minutes and the frequency will be approximately every 4 weeks. Results again vary on location of treatment and the client however on average visible changes will be evident after at least 2 to 4 treatments.
The results of an AQUALYX treatment are very much reliant on the client maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exercise following the treatments. The treatment frees the fatty acids, they are processed through the body’s lymphatic system, they can regenerate but this is a very slow process. If the client regains weight, it is highly likely that the fat pockets will reappear. Assuming the lifestyle of the client is healthy and active following treatments the results should be permanent.
Recovery varies from client to client, there is commonly general discomfort for a few days following a treatment and this can last for up to two weeks depending on the area treated and the client.
Side effects may include some redness, swelling and tenderness in the localised treated area. Some people may also experience some light bruising, but this and any other side effects will usually resolve within a few days.
Cool packs and paracetamol are the best solution for the soreness and swelling.
